Simple pleasures: Try an old fashioned

Facebook, text messages and magazine covers don't count as reading.

At best, reading The Hunger Games is "light reading," but I'm about half way though book one. It has made me realize that I miss reading books (even comic books like the nekkid hottie pictured - why a naked dude reading a coming book? Because). I always enjoyed reading when I was in school, but as an adult, honestly, I don't read many books. I mainly read online; blogs, news wires, etc.

I've tried to read books. A few that I've picked up failed to keep my attention, others were not to my liking so I never finished them. I walk out of movies too. You've got to get my attention or I'm outtie.

The Hunger Games is interesting enough to keep my interest, even though the writing is extremely simple and very clearly for young adults. Like 12-year-olds. Even so, there are some really interesting elements and now I'm back on books. I want to read more. Better stuff, obviously.

Sometimes a good old fashioned thing -- like reading a book -- makes life just a little better.

Turn off the TV, let the computer hibernate and set the phone under a damn pillow. Relax. Take in a simple joy.
